![]() ![]() so over time, your spears get better and better as you respond to the cavalry threat. If your enemy is building a lot of cavalry, you're going to want to build a lot of spearmen. It's also an interesting way to organically have a faction improve at what they need to improve at. ![]() And now here you are with 10 units of spearmen, so it only stands to reason that you go use them for something (poking thine enemies). Want to get better spearmen? Well you better start recruiting those trash spearmen you have currently. I feel like it's encouraging the player to pursue branches more aggressively by requiring a more proactive approach, and also indirectly creating incentives for the player to approach their campaign in a way that mirrors their technological foci. I'll have to see how the new approach to the tech "tree" plays out in game, but it's an interesting evolution.
